There are several steps I take when building a website, regardless of its size. It's important to find out from the client what their vision is and what is needed and wanted. Before progressing to design, the first step is establishing how the website will flow. A visitor will only give a website a matter of seconds before 'bouncing off' unless they find what they are looking for.
Once the client is happy with the site flow and structure, we move onto design. To get a feel for the client's style, I will often ask them to send me a couple of designs they like.
The website build process can take a couple of days to a few weeks, depending on the size and complexity involved. I keep in regular contact with the client and set up a test site, so they can keep track of progress.
Of course, each step in the process can be broken down in detail, which I go into below.
